My Archives: December 2002

A gracious Monday to all...

My "breaking news" on ifeminists.com is similar to a comedy routine featured on the old Saturday Night Live. Almost every week, Chevy Chase as news anchor, would deliver the headline "This just in. Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead."

This just in. There is a steady accumulation of absolutely no news on ifeminists.com. I have put everything in place for a smooth transition and, so, I can only wait.

For those who want real comedy, I recommend an article on the top funniest news stories of 2002.

Meanwhile, having just filed my FOX news column, I'm going to get some sleep.

Cheers,
mac

There seems to be a growing weariness in the tone of foreign presses, especially European ones -- a fatigue born from months of opposing Bush rhetoric and intransigence. I doubt if there is sufficient will to resist a war with Iraq. [more]

Happy Holidays to all!

One of my two (early) New Year's Resolutions is to reactivate my blog and try to maintain it on a daily basis.

This flow of information is especially important in light of the recent collapse of the Henry Hazlitt Foundation, the umbrella organization under which Free-Market.net and ifeminists.com operated. The decision from the HHF Board on December 20th to close its doors caught all of us who work for HHF (in one capacity or another) offguard tho' there had been many indications of its approach. I differ from most others involved in that I think the Board acted wisely. But it has closed down (temporarily?) some of the premiere channels of news and information dissemination within the libertarian movement.

I am delighted to announce that I have joined the Independent Institute as a Research Fellow for 2003. Thanks David, thanks Mary, and a hearty "hello" to everyone who is now a co-worker. This should be fun.
