Gordon P. offers two brief movie reviews...
Just got back from seeing _Frank Miller's Sin City_ . If _Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow_ was filmed entirely in "Art Decovision," then _Sin City_ was filmed in "Technonoir:" Almost entirely black and white, modulo strategically chosen and timed items in a single primary color. (I gather that was a technique Miller pioneered in the original graphic novels, which I haven't read.) It is also without a doubt the darkest, grimmest, most brutally violent and unremittingly disturbing film I've ever seen. I almost feel like I want to jump in the shower, to try (and fail) to wash off the psychic bloodstains... I think I'd hate to live inside Frank Miller's head; there must be some REALLY nasty nightmares inside there, not even bothering to hide from the daylight...
_A Lot Like Love_, an Ashton Kuchar / Amanda Peet vehicle: Best short description I can hang on this one is "It's the anti-_When Harry Met Sally_"...The film has its moments, and provides a number of good chuckles; however, it's basically a series of vignettes, and does not provide either of the main characters with opportunities to express any greater depth than a puddle. It's probably worth watching once, but I question whether it's a "keeper"...
