On the Political Front:
Here's another cartoonist I like to check out, especially on Homeland Security: Russmo.
This article is interesting, if true. "The first President Bush has told his son that hopes of peace in the Middle East would be ruined if a war with Iraq were not backed byinternational unity....He also urged the President to resist his tendency to bear grudges, advising his son to bridge the rift between the United States, France and Germany."
Meanwhile, back to my on-going diatribe on the airlines. According to CNN, more than 4.8 million items have been stolen from passengers in the 13 months the federal government has been in charge of "security" -- one of the misnomers of our time. All in all, I think it justice that American Airlines has quietly begun talks on Wall Street seeking up to $2 billion in bankruptcy financing should a Chapter 11 filing become necessary. Treat people like customers and not like criminals and we may start flying again!
On the Personal/Movement Front:
Mark Skousen has a new gig as the first Director of Economic Education for the Young America's Foundation. I don't know much about YAF but I wish Mark well. BTW, FreedomFest 2003 -- November 6th - 9th --is already being advertised.
Robert Higgs has done it again with his article "Camelot and the Bushies: Some Disturbing Parallels." But why does Bob keep signing his emails "Oldebuck"?
The hate mail I receive is on the rise this week. I take such emails as a signs that my writing is having an impact tho', with so much of my writing posted in so many forums, it is difficult to say which article or blog is causing any particular threat or ad hominem attack. I suppose the viciousness will get worse before it gets better as the war brings out the worst and best in people.
Best to all,
mac
